The E.B. Magalona OFW Help Desk had assisted Donna Saber, a distressed OFW from Dubai City in United Arab Emirates, upon her arrival at the Bacolod- Silay Airport, and brought her home to Hacienda Lumbia Barangay Alicante Thursday [May 18].

Ten youth leaders of E. B. Magalona are currently attending the three-day Youth Forum on Heritage, organized by the Office of 3rd District Rep. Jose Francisco “Kiko” Benitez, that is being held at Magikland in Silay City from May 16 to 18.

Mayor Marvin Malacon has sought the expertise and assistance of the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) and the Department of Agriculture (DA)- Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) to conduct site assessment in three coastal barangays of E. B. Magalona for the construction of a multi-species marine hatchery.

Magalona Mayor Marvin Malacon was one of the 31 mayors of Negros Occidental who signed the memorandum of agreement (MOA) on inter-LGU (local government units) cooperation in the implementation of the Universal Health Care Province-Wide Health Systems (PWHS), at the Provincial Capitol in Bacolod City Tuesday, May 9, 2023.

An initial total of 2,611 children in various barangays of E. B. Magalona have been vaccinated against measles and rubella (MR), while 3,041 kids have received oral polio vaccines (OPVs), in the first six days of the ongoing supplemental immunization campaign of the Department of Health (DOH), called “Chikiting Ligtas,” according to the Municipal Health Office (MHO).

The Municipality of E. B. Magalona hosted the Gawad Kalinga Provincial Kapitbahayan Assembly at the Public Plaza Sunday [May 7] to honor GK Homeowners (Kapitbahayan), youth, and their families from all the GK villages in Negros Occidental, including the one in Barangay Gahit of this municipality.

Saraviahanon, led by Mayor Marvin Malacon, pay their last respects to former E. B. Magalona Mayor and Third District Board Member Atty. Reynaldo P. Depasucat, at the necrological service held at the Lobby of the E. B. Magalona Municipal Building today [May 6], in honor of his remarkable life and outstanding public service to Saraviahanon and Negrenses.

ASSISTANCE. A total of 78 indigent senior citizens, four solo parents, and five CICL (Children in Conflict with the Law) from E. B. Magalona have received financial assistance from the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office at distribution rites at the Public Plaza Friday [May 5].

The highlights of the 34th Ugyonan Festival of the Municipality of E. B. Magalona, in honor of the town’s patron saint, St. Joseph the Worker, will kick off on April 28 [Friday] and will run until May 1 [Monday], the fiesta day.

Mayor Marvin Malacon said this year’s theme, “Sa Pag-ugyon, Ibalik ang Kasadya (In Unity, We Can Bring Back Happy Times),” highlights the progress of the town born out of unity and hard work of Saraviahanon.
