3 more EB Magalona OFWs get cash aid from Capitol

Three more distressed and displaced Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from E. B. Magalona have received financial assistance of P5,000 each from the Provincial Government on Monday, February 13, 2023.

They were Erwin Goniabo of Barangay 1 (Poblacion), Catherine Cabuhay of Barangay Batea, and Noel Mondado of Barangay Latasan.

The three Saraviahanon OFWs were among the 81 Negrense OFWs who received financial assistance from Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson at the Provincial Capitol.

The beneficiaries are among those who have not completed their contracts and returned home from January to June this year.

In October last year, 10 distressed and displaced OFWs from E. B. Magalona also received P5,000 financial assistance from the Provincial Government.

They were assisted by Liza Borja, focal person for OFWs Help Desk of E. B. Magalona, at the turnover ceremony.

The assistance was facilitated by the municipal government headed by Mayor Marvin Malacon, thru the OFWs Help Desk headed by PESO Manager Jessilyn Plaza.

Distressed OFWs are either victims of various employment contract-related violations, or were not able to finish their employment contracts due to the COVID-19 pandemic.*
