2 more EB Magalona barangays now free from illegal drugs; 21 of 23 brgys drug-cleared

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency- Regional Office (PDEA-6) has cleared today, June 16, 2023 two more barangays of E. B. Magalona from the influence of illegal drugs.

This brings to 21 of the total 23 barangays of E. B. Magalona that have been cleared of illegal drugs since the start of the drug-clearing program, according to Major Kenneth Jay Gratones, chief of police of the E. B. Magalona Municipal Police Station.

The newly drug-cleared barangays are Consing and Poblacion I.

The announcement was made by PDEA-6 during the 48th Regional Oversight Committee online deliberation on the Barangay Drug-Clearing Program.

Representing Mayor Marvin Malacon at the online meeting was Executive Assistant Debbie Ann Monte.

In a statement, Malacon said, "We commend the PNP, PDEA, municipal and barangay officials, MADAC (Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council), BADAC (Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council), Municipal Health Office, other agencies and sectors, and the Municipality of E. B. Magalona as a whole for working together in our war against illegal drugs and make our community a safer place to live, work, and do business in."

oining the online meeting from the Marañon Hall in the Municipal Building were Punong Barangays Rio Jemella of Consing and Jovy Escala of Poblacion I, barangay secretaries, Gratones, and Police Chief Master Sergeant Mary Grace Barquilla, head of the Police Community Affairs Section.

Gratones vowed to continue with their close collaboration with the counterpart agencies to clear the remaining two barangays from illegal drugs to reach the milestone of 100% drug-cleared barangays in E. B. Magalona.*
